Caffè in Gamba

Caffè in Gamba is a trendy little coffee shop in the plateau area, specializing in Italian espressos. I had passed by this spot a few times, and finally went in to visit thanks to the Indie Coffee Passport. The cafe is quite spacious inside, and they have outdoor seating during the summer months as well!

I was surprised by the red walls and the antique / religious decor, but warmed up to the mis-matched theme pretty quickly. The coffee selection was quite large and I enjoyed my drink. This is a cute spot with wifi and plenty of outlets so you can either relax on the couch with your cappuccino, or get some work done at a table with your cup of joe. I'd definitely recommend this spot to anyone who finds themselves in the area!

Menagerie Coffee

I'm back in Philly and on the hunt for another great café! I discovered Menagerie Coffee from a beautiful Instagram photo. The vibe here is warm and welcoming and it's a perfect spot to study if you have a lot of books or need a big space to spread out.

I walked to the Old City and settled in for a few hours of studying on a long wooden table with an excellent cappuccino. The stool was surprisingly comfy as well. Despite the slightly cloudy and rainy day, the space was nice and bright thanks to the large front window, which was perfect for people watching! I loved the exposed brick wall and also loved the tree stumps which served as coffee tabes!

The space is bigger than I initially thought with lots of seating in the front and back! There are also plenty of outlets. The only downside with the spotty WiFi which I luckily wasn't dependent on for my studying.

Overall, a cool hipster spot with a laid back and cozy atmosphere! Thanks for hosting me Menagerie!

Paquetbot Café

Paquebot means boat in french. This cozy café is such a great discovery in the Villerey neighbourhood! It's so cute and hip at the same time. There were lots of people hanging out here and the music was pretty loud, but I still really enjoyed the atmosphere. There is a lot of seating here with long tables and outlets everywhere, which is essential for me or any other student! There is also some countertop seating for those looking for a more relaxed spot. The main door of this café, which is a garage door, was opened and we finally got to enjoy the first hint of spring!!

This spot offers a unique drink list with creative coffees. I had a lavender london fog which was basically homemade lavender syrup with Earl Grey tea and steamed milk. My coffee partner C, had a curry ginger latté which was made with espresso, turmeric and ginger syrup. Their menu also included flat whites, nitro cold brew and hot tea. Their food options looked so good as well (grilled cheese etc).

Paquebot has tons of events throughout the year including a little pop up café stand with their tricycle. Follow them on social media to see what parks and other spots they'll be hitting up this summer!

Café Cardynal

Café Cardynal is a cute espresso bar in the plateau. It's a bit of a ways from Metro Mont-Royal but definitely worth the trip! They have a great selection of roasts and pastries. I had a latté which was very good, and a bit sweeter than I'm used to, but it was a welcomed change!

My favourite part was the chill atmosphere and cozy decor. I loved the long sturdy wood tables which make it a great spot to get some work done. It's not the biggest café but luckily we didn't have too much trouble finding a seat on a Saturday afternoon.

Thanks to the ICP for helping me discover another great Montreal Café!
